In the ’80s, adidas was a strong competitor in the basketball shoe market. The hi-top adidas Rivalry were first released in 1986 as a signature shoe of the New York Knickerbockers All-Star player, Patrick Ewing. The first colorway was dressed in the iconic blue, orange & white – the team colors of Ewing’s team. They became an instant hit on the courts, on the streets and in the 80s sneaker culture. The model features reinforced leather uppers, perforations to improve the breathability and a grippy outsole to ensure the extra court grip.
