Under Armour (UA) was founded in 1996 by former American football player Kevin Plank. When he compared a completely wet T-shirt under a jersey with dry compression shorts after practice, he came up with the idea to make a T-shirt from synthetic materials to ensure that skin stays dry. Plank started the business in his grandmother’s garage, and the success brought him to the Forbes billionaires list. Today, UA produces a wide range of sports and lifestyle equipment, including footwear, which they began producing in 2006. Their main basketball ambassadors are Steph Curry and Joel Embiid.
