It was summer of 1986 in Trieste…

After his first season in the NBA, which he finished as rookie of the year with an average of 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game, Michael Jordan is participating in a demonstration game organized by Nike. He plays the first half in the orange-white-black jersey of the Stefanel Trieste, and the second half he helps Juve Caserta’s team. MJ puts on a crazy show for the spectators, he jumps, he dunks, he scores 30 points, and the climax of the evening comes when Mr. Air Jordan jumps over a defender in a monstrous drive, stays in the air for a second and then pushes the ball through the hoop so forcefully that the glass backboard scatters into thousands of pieces. And that moment goes down in history as one of the turning points for basketball and basketball sneakers.

We’re sure that you remember the previous iterations of the Shattered Backboard Jordan 1s, but this time, it’s time for something new. With this release, the designers decided to try to push the boundaries with the innovative design. This year’s 3.0 will come in colors that mimic Bred’s original colorway, only the orange will replace the red, and will be dressed in patent leather, which glitters just like broken glass under specific lightning.
