Apart from their impressive careers, do you know what else they have in common – and it is especially interesting to us? Well, in the 2007/8 NBA season, they all wore Nike Air Zoom BB! This model has always been a favorite of sneakerheads who also play actively because it was a sneaker with outstanding performance. Unfortunately, we will not be writing a retro / re-release story today, but that’s not really bad news at all …
Specifically, today we will focus on the reincarnation of this legend in the form of the new Nike Air Zoom BB NXT! Honestly, we are so excited about everything that these sneakers are bringing that we are not even sure where to start.
Perhaps it is best to immediately emphasize that this model is made for all players regardless of their position. This means that it is something light, comfortable and stable! Following the fact that the sneaker is for everyone, it should be emphasized that it belongs to – no one. You see, the Zoom BB NXT is not a signature model of any basketball player, and we know that there are many fans of the fact that the sneaker can tell its own story.
After this, we simply have to point out the most spectacular part, and that is the sole or the grip. The sneaker simply sticks to any surface no matter how dusty it is, and this applies to both indoor and outdoor. Of course, there is no need to talk about how big of a plus this is. Additional confirmation of all this is the extremely high frequency of sound with which sneakers creak with each change of direction or speed.
Just above the sole we have a really impressive combination of technology that Nike is increasingly introducing to new models after great results thus far. What is it about? Zoom under the front of the foot, and React in the other half.
Here, this front Air Zoom is very similar to that in LeBron 17s because it consists of two pods, and the React foam is especially spectacular – because it has three layers!
Two of the three layers are visible from the outside, while the third is in the insole. It is really difficult to describe the comfort that is obtained with this, and it is not bad to mention that with this the foot is additionally raised from the ground, which adds a few centimeters to your height 😀
All of this is wrapped in a now very proven mesh upper and a great addition is that parts of the textile under the mesh are iridescent, almost like snakeskin. We think that this does not necessarily have to do with the Black Mamba, but it certainly has a function of extending the life of the sneaker because it additionally protects the most exposed parts (especially the toes). Really, Nike got just about everything right here!
