We are very happy to to present a new “player” in our growing team of partners!

Columbia and their legendary winter jackets will excite everyone who likes to be warm regardless of what the temperatures outside are while still looking great. Given that the company has a very rich history, we think it is best to start today’s blog writing about it!

The company was founded by Paul Lamfrom in 1938 under the name Columbia Hat Company, and the location where the company’s headquarters have remained to this day is very interesting. Specifically, it is in the Portland area where Nike and adidas (with its American headquarters) are both located. Gert, the founder’s daughter, got married in 1948 to Neal Boyle who later took over the company. Success and growth continued, and since 1960 the company was renamed to its present day name of Columbia Sportswear Company. Unfortunately, 10 years later Neal suddenly passed away and Gert had to adjust almost overnight from being a housewife to becoming a businesswoman. Perhaps her success is best exemplified by her “Tough Mother” nickname and the famous message she had for her employees: “It’s perfect. Now make it better.” Until her death in 2019 (she was 95 at the time) she successfully ran the company with the help of her son Tim who is the current CEO of Columbia. Some TV commercials that the two of them made together were very interesting:

At one point, the company gained additional popularity when their jackets appeared on the hip hop scene, while today many ambassadors are promoting the company and some of them are:
– NACAR driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr.
– golfers Ryan Palmer and Brian Harman
– country singer Luke Combs
– numerous professional fishermen/anglers, snowboarders and skiers, trail runners …

Since most of our blogs are about sneakers where we write about technologies, we can do the same thing for Columbia jackets because they are popular all over the world due to their quality and are worn in all, especially extreme, weather conditions. Technologies, depending on the jacket model, include thermal insulation, waterproof and windproof materials, moisture-wicking, cooling, water-and-stain repellency and even UVA/UVB ray blocking!
