This year’s ”March Madness” started on Monday, March the 14th. One of the madest months in the basketball world is actually the college NCAA league. In the blog, we prepared for you all the information the basketball fan needs for the madness. We took a look at last year’s finals and all the important dates, that you need to fully enjoy the whole month.

2022 NCAA Division I Final Tournament or March Madness

Last year’s March Madness brought us a new champion, Baylor University. In the finals, Baylor defeated Gonzago with a final score of 86:70. Before the finals, Gonzago got the overtime win over UCLA, with a final result of 93:90. Baylor was 78:59 better than Houston. An interesting fact is, that the first time after the year 1976, Duke nor the university of Kentucky were not in the tournament. The tournament is one of the most surprising and nail-biting basketball events. Can this year be the same?

This year’s March Madness or 2022 NCAA Division 1 tournament is gonna bee 83rd in a row. This year also, we’re gonna see 68 teams compete, and the tournament is gonna be played until April 4th. On the 4th the finals game is gonna take place in Ceasars Superdome arena in New Orleans.  The exact dates:

  • First Four – March 15 and 16
  • First Round – March 17 and 18
  • Second Round –  March 19 and 20
  • Sweet 16 – March 24 and 25
  • Elite Eight – March 26 and 27
  • Final Four – April 2nd
  • Finals Game – April 4th

The first games are gonna be played in a first Final Four series, where 4 teams are gonna win a ticket to the main event. Games are gonna be played at the University of Daytona, Ohio. The committee ranks the 68 teams from 1 to 68.  The first and second-round games are taking place in Portland, San Diego, Fort Worth, Greenville, Indianapolis. Milwaukee, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. Parts of Sweet 16 and Elite Eight are gonna be played in San Francisco, Chicago, San Antonio, and Philadelphia. The Final Four and the finals are gonna take place in New Orleans.

New Orleans is gonna host the final part of the tournament for the sixth time. The last time was in 2012, and before that in 2003, 1993, 1987, and 1982. At the same time, the women’s March Madness is gonna take place.

Mike Krzyzewski is gonna coach his final game

Legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski is known as »Coach K«. A 5 time NCAA champion with Duke University and he led the blue devils to the final four tournaments twelve times. 75-year-old coach announced, that this year’s tournament is gonna be his last and that he is gonna retire after the season. No matter how far the Duke can go, every Mike Krzyzewski game is a must-watch.

102 years old sister Jean is stil active

Sometimes the fans are even more impressive than the players or coaches. That’s how it is with Jean Dolores Schmit or Sister Jean. 102 years old mam became world-famous in 2018 when her team Loyola Chicago was a surprise of the tournament by getting to the Final Four.
