Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies super star player and NBA MVP candidate

First things first, learn the man’s full name: Temetrius Jamel Morant. And put some respect on it! 😀 Of course, by now almost everyone knows the name he goes by since Ja is quickly becoming one of the brightest young stars in the NBA.

Ja Morant: the story

Even though he had an impressive high school career, college scouts were not convinced that Ja could continue being successful at the NCAA level. There is a funny story that he ended up at Murray State after the team’s assistant coach James Kane was in a gym scouting a different player…he was hungry and went to get some snacks which is when he accidentally saw Morant playing on a different court! Ja joined the mid-major program and just one of the many achievements he had in two years there was that he became the first player in NCAA history with a season average of at least 20 points and 10 assists per game.

He was the 2nd overall pick in the NBA draft and continued building his legacy by winning the Rookie of the Year award. During following season, he led the Grizzlies to the playoffs and this year he was voted to become an All-Star starter and the Most Improved Player as well! More playoff success followed, but unfortunately that campaign was derailed by a knee injury. Still, the future for him and Memphis is very bright and out of the numerous highlights he accumulated we’ll just single out the most recent (and perhaps most amazing!) one:

Shoe game:

Ja Morant wears Nike basketball shoes ever since he signed a contract with the company just before being drafted. So far, he was seen bringing some major heat on NBA courts with the shoes he was wearing!

This included:

– Nike Adapt BB – the first edition and the 2.0 model for which we made a cool unboxing video

– Kyrie 5 & 6 models,

– numerous editions from Kobe’s and Kevin Durant’s signature lines,

– on few occasions Ja even went with Paul George’s and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s kicks.

Time for a signature line?

Given his meteoric rise, it is only natural to wonder when it will be time for Ja to receive a shoe that will complement his dazzling and acrobatic playstyle! He already starred in his own Nike commercial, but now we’re waiting for the next step…

As of right now there is no information on when this will happen so we’ll go ahead and recommend what the line should be called: the Nike Ja(m)! Do you have any other ideas?
